The short answer
If you work on a product team: Figma. If you are building marketing sites or want production-ready components: Framer.

Where Figma wins
Collaboration
Figma multiplayer is still class-leading. Developers, PMs, and other designers can comment, inspect, and hand off without needing an account. Framer collaboration is functional but narrower.
Component systems
Figma component model — variants, properties, nested instances — is more expressive for large design systems. Framer component model is closer to React: powerful, but requires more technical fluency.
Handoff
Figma Dev Mode is mature. CSS values, spacing tokens, and asset export are accessible without translating from a designer mental model.
Where Framer wins
Motion and interaction
Framer animation tooling is genuinely excellent. Scroll-linked animations, spring physics, and gesture interactions are first-class — not an afterthought bolted on.
Publishing
Framer can publish directly to a live URL. For marketing pages and landing pages, this collapses the design-to-production gap entirely.
CMS and real content
Framer built-in CMS lets you design against real content. No lorem ipsum, no placeholder images.
